THE CHALLENGE

Hyoketsu is a Japanese icon and a brand built on clarity, simplicity, and unmistakable visual identity. Hyoketsu is the number one RTD in Japan, with a growing international following.

As the brand continued to grow, there was an opportunity to build a stronger presence around the moments Hyoketsu naturally belongs in, including festivals, social occasions, summer, and shared experiences.

Building on a long-standing relationship with Lion, we’ve partnered with Hyoketsu since 2023 to translate the brand into physical products beyond the can, designed not as promotion, but as an extension of the brand itself.

The challenge wasn’t simply creating merchandise. It was creating products people genuinely wanted to wear, carry, and be seen with. Products that felt culturally aligned, design-led, and unmistakably Hyoketsu.

Through the partnership, we identified opportunities to extend the brand further into festival and lifestyle culture. One of those was a custom cooler bag designed around the Hyoketsu packaging itself, functional, social, and built for the environments the brand naturally lives within.

THE IMPACT

Our partnership with Hyoketsu demonstrates the value of understanding how a brand behaves. Over time, the relationship evolved from delivery into true collaboration. Proactively identifying opportunities, shaping new ideas, and creating products that strengthen brand affinity in the real world.

The result is an expanding merchandise ecosystem that allows Hyoketsu to show up consistently across culture, lifestyle, and social experiences.

More broadly, the work helped extend the brand into the moments it was made for. Products designed to move naturally through festivals, weekends away, social gatherings, and everyday life, turning customers into active participants in the brand.

Because the strongest brands don’t stop at the product. They live in how people experience them.
