THE CHALLENGE

Silver Fern Farms were initially looking for a premium uniform solution that reflected the quality and positioning of their brand. They wanted Barkers quality for their staff apparel, leveraging the credibility of one of New Zealand’s most iconic clothing brands to create a more elevated and considered uniform program.

As part of the Barkers Group, we were uniquely positioned to deliver that. Combining premium retail apparel capability with custom uniform expertise, the partnership was a natural fit from the beginning.

What started with uniforms quickly expanded into a broader operational opportunity. Silver Fern Farms needed a more streamlined approach to distribution, ordering, and stock management across the business.

Working closely together, we centralised inventory management, developed a custom e-commerce platform with approval workflows, and introduced real-time visibility across the entire program. The result was a simpler, more scalable system designed to improve consistency and reduce operational friction.

As the relationship evolved, so did the scope. From premium VIP gifting through to large-scale event merchandise, we helped Silver Fern Farms create a more consistent and considered physical brand experience across every touchpoint.

THE IMPACT

The partnership has evolved into a fully integrated program spanning apparel, merchandise, distribution, and digital infrastructure.

More broadly, the relationship demonstrates the value of aligning operational systems with brand experience. By creating consistency across product, ordering, and event execution, Silver Fern Farms strengthened both internal efficiency and external brand perception.

One of the most distinctive outcomes came through a bespoke gifting initiative developed for the Farmers Conference. Working with a local tannery, we repurposed leather sourced from the farmers’ own cattle to create custom wallets and bags. Rather than sourcing material externally, the project transformed a by-product of the supply chain into something premium, personal, and deeply connected to the people behind the brand.

The result was more than merchandise. It became a physical expression of provenance, sustainability, and shared value.
